You Who Call Me Brother [China]

Ivan had learned a lot from Yao in his Panda suit. He considered the suit one of his most precious belongings, and constantly cared for it to keep it realistic and the fur soft. The suit allowed Ivan to get closer to Yao even when the man did not want him near. Sometimes he did so for information that Yao purposefully hid from him, but mostly, he did so to watch Yao in his natural environment. Yao wore many masks, and even though they held a close friendship, he still wore a mask for Ivan as well. As Panda, all of those masks melted away to pure comfort and love. Yao did not hide himself to Panda, he let himself bare as if a canvas for his eyes only. He smiled more, he shared secrets, and he laughed. Ivan loved Yao’s laugh, and as Panda, Ivan could hold him tightly without the man squirming in his grip for escape.
However, his use for the suit today was not merely to watch, but to learn. Ivan could not say he was pleased with what he had learned so far. It took many calming deep breaths as he snuggled Yao in a hug to calm his temper. He listened to his explanation only to confirm that Yao indeed hid his tactics from him. He knew Yao had his own motives and plans, but to deny knowledge to his allies created a fraction between them that felt similar to the Sino-Soviet split all those decades ago. If only Yao would be honest with him, they could work together hand in hand and bring about a perfect world. Yao preferred control, as did Ivan, and here they found themselves once again. “Panda must have forgot,” he chirped out, “Can you tell me why we can’t take Japan again?” His voice extra high to the point it was almost hurting Ivan’s throat to talk in such a manner, but he did not want to break appearance. Yao did not wish to share his plans honestly than Ivan would steal them secretly.
He tried to prevent Yao from going to Japan by purposefully moving into his way. His plan turned to a halt when a familiar female voice spoke. He had barely been paying attention to their conversation, far more focus on retrieving the information he had been seeking for over a year now. He turned and glared at Vietnam, though his eyes could not be seen behind the mask, but the darken aura around him could certainly be felt. He did not say anything, but from the way Panda stared at Vietnam it became obvious that the idea of a non-aggression pact would not be accepted.

Yao was always comforted by panda’s soft fur. He was comforted by just the thought of panda for that matter. Panda was the first one in his life and he imagined he’d be the last one, when the rest of the world was gone. It was a concept that Yao had been worried about since he first woke up, being alone. After learning of Rome’s death the concept of being alone became all too real to him. He watched the other nations closely for this possibility of mortality. It was a thought that always haunted him, that one day he would wake up again and be alone…..But panda would be there, he hoped.
So when panda moved into his way he looked up at him questioningly. Panda had forgotten everything? Even that? How could his mind be in such a daze? It wasn’t as if Panda wasn’t helping the entire time in the beginning. He watched him turn around and face Veitnam as she mentioned something about a non-aggressive pact which he immediately showed distain for as well, there was too much going on at once and he would have to address it one at a time.
“You will do no such thing Thi, I forbid it.” He spoke sternly just as if she was living under his roof. What was she thinking? Was she out of her mind going against him like this? He had done nothing to provoke this action and it wasn’t her place to just back out of everything that the pact had already been doing. She was going to turn herself against the pact and he would not be able to keep her safe then. His mind buzzed with his OTHER unruly child’s decision as he then faced Panda’s odd remark.
He stared at Panda from behind and tapped his fur to get his attention once more. “Calm down Panda, I’ll talk to Thi, she’s not going away…But you said you don’t remember anything? Not even digging the first hole?” He asked casually as if it should have been something he just remembered doing. He was still coming to terms with the fact that panda was actually speaking to him. He pressed his finger to his own lips in thought, it was panda wasn’t it and not one of his many siblings? Yes, he was sure it was.
He put his hand back on his side and tried to come around him to see his Thi and Japan again, whom was still complaining about being held there. If he could be trusted he didn’t have to be locked up there, but they tried that before.

China and Russia in the Panda suit were still talking. Everything just seemed too bright. Kiku moaned and just wanted to go to sleep, but his heart was beating what felt like a mile a minute. He was bound and it scared him—wasn’t it okay be scared? He sniffled when Vietnam ignored his brother and that weird Eastern European and spoke to him. He tried to give her his own full span of attention and it worked. The other two faded away and the pain that had been hammering in his head eased. He too frowned and for a moment he looked at Yao hopefully, but China wasn’t paying him any attention.
He sighed and shut his eyes. He completely understood. Apparently China and decided that he’d done something to be bound for. He couldn’t think, though. All he recalled was the noise of a gunshot and then pain. He shivered once more, but out of trepidation this time, not his fever. He tried to curl into himself. He tried to make the whole world fade, but no wait! He’d promised Thi he’d listen to her and remember what she was going to tell him!
He opens his hazy, brown eyes again and met hers. His promise made her smile and his own grew. Of course he’d remember whatever Thi told him! He was determined and Japanese determination is a diamond wall! Impenetrable!
He was a little confused about the part about escaping China, but he understood the rest of the message. Apparently wasn’t supposed to be here, but China wanted him to stay? He puckered his lips, but he can think on that later. The important part of Vietnam’s request is that she wants an agreement of non-aggression between them. That stirred something in him. He wanted to stop fighting with all his siblings and if this could help, he wanted it! Even if it was just Thi his desire doesn’t wane.
Tell his boss that Vietnam would like to discuss a non-aggression pact. He can do that.
He gave Thi a nod. “Okay, I will remember, Thi-kun.”
That was when the world came crashing back in. Yao was back and Japan looked up. “Yao-kun,” he said to him and then averted his eyes in shame. He bit his lip. “I don’t know what I did to be tied up, but I am sorry. I won’t do anything. Please can I be untied so I can get comfortable? I just want to sleep. I won’t misbehave again. Wǒ hěn bàoqiàn, wǒ bù huì zài zhèyàng zuò. Qǐng? Duìbùqǐ.” I am sorry, I won't do it again. Please? I am sorry. He stared up at him with large brown eyes. They shone in tears.

As concerned as she is about her brother's current state, Vietnam is greatly relieved when he seems to understand why she's not helping. If she was actually concerned that he would not make a full recovery, that would be different. But she's talking to Japan - it would take much more than even this to make his health an actual concern. Her brother China is holding on to a powder keg, which will explode as soon as the man now so seemingly helpless has had a chance to recover. But Vietnam simply has no ability to try to mediate any conflicts between her brothers - China would not take anything she said seriously - and Japan knows that. So if the two of them are in a disagreement, she can't do anything about it and she's not going to try.
She's also relieved that, at that moment at least, Japan doesn't look too caught up in his fever when he promises to remember her request - she feels reasonably reassured that he will, even if the rest of this day is a bit of a haze. Repeating it later might prove difficult, as she'd had such limited opportunities to speak with him as of late and if he reacts to this as she suspects he will then it would be harder to contact him in the future if he didn't already know what she wanted. Perhaps it would even be too late - which is why she dares say it here and now.
Even though she'd suspected that her words with her brother would go ignored by the others in the room, she is nevertheless prepared to face the upset expressions of a family member and a friend, both of them allies. "Cảm ơn nhiều, Kiku," she thanks Japan, gently kissing his forehead. Standing, her expression look regretful as her eyes pass over Russia - if he wishes to continue this ridiculous game of dressing up like Panda, it would be extremely difficult for her to have a proper conversation with him about it right now. But she does her best by simply giving him a small bow, as if to communicate that she means no disrespect. China might find it a bit odd for her to bow to Panda, but that's so much more benign than having her either speaking to him as if he was Russia or attempting to communicate what she would say using words that she might actually say to Panda - and she's really not in the mood to try to play that game anyway, so she hopes that her wordless gesture will suffice, at least for the moment.
Especially since her eyes now move over to the real problem: China. Who would no doubt be able to instantly see that she has gone from being simply appalled and distraught about his recent actions to being completely furious with him about something entirely apart from his treatment of their brother. "You have no right to forbid me from doing anything, brother!" she starts, her voice clearly tense and full of anger, but surprisingly soft - in fact, he'd have to listen quite carefully to catch all of her words, "I do not live here, I do not serve in your house. You can say anything you want to me, but I do not have to listen. You only help me when it suits you, which is rarely and even more rarely when I actually want it. In fact, you completely ignore my wishes and simply do whatever you want. Also, I do not need you - you could close off our borders and it would do little but leave you with less rice to eat. So what you want does not matter very much to me. If you wanted it to matter, perhaps you should have given your sister more consideration previously to now. Instead, now I am going to go away. I am going home, to my own house. And if you attempt to stop me, you will be at war with two of your siblings."
Having said that, her expression suddenly lifts. And she smiles as she adds, "Otherwise I will see you later. I believe that we have a meeting scheduled for next week? To go over the proposed patrols in the South China Sea? I will return then." She gives him the same respectful bow that she greeted him with, as if all of the words and actions in between never happened, and then turns to leave. This is definitely a mess that she wants no part of.

do not forget me
About thirty years ago, Israel's boss was assasinated. By who, well, no one knows, but Israel immediately blamed Iran. Of course, that alone wouldn't have started World War III, even though Israel and Iran's various allies declared war in quick succession.
Nah, the nuclear bomb in the middle of Jerusalem probably did it.
Now? Now the rest is history. The world's been at war for thirty years, thirty years of bloodshed and pain. No one else has reached for the nuclear option quite yet, but no one's happy. So if we all die- well, do not forget me, okay?
